Angel Tree

You can help change the life of a prisoner’s child FOREVER.

When Mom or Dad go to Prison it is the innocent children left behind to pick up the pieces.
Every child has a story. For 2.7 million American children, that story is filled with the abandonment, loneliness and shame that come from having a mom or dad in prison. For many, it may also include following their parents down the same destructive road to incarceration. Angel Tree, a program that reaches out to the children of inmates and their families with the love of Christ. This unique program gives your church an opportunity to share Christ’s love by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners.  Here in Brunswick County we have over 800 children that have a family member in prison.

Sending Kids Back to School with Dignity
Every year we do a Back 2 School bash to assist the children of prisoners, foster care and the homeless children with new clothing items, school supplies and backpacks.  In August 2016 we blessed 174 kids with backpacks full of new school supplies & we provided 45 kids with new tennis shoes.

Angel Tree Camping:  June-August

For many children of prisoners, some of the basic rites of childhood – like spending a week away at summer camp – are out of the question.

Every summer, hundreds of children get the opportunity to attend a Christian summer camp through our sponsorship.

Camp can be one of the most life-changing experiences that children of incarcerated parents can have. Camp gives the child an opportunity to have fun, fellowship with their peers, build relationships with caring camp counselors, and to experience the love of God in the great outdoors-with children facing the same issues.

The camping experience gives the children the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with God. At camp many children will make a first-time decision to trust in Jesus Christ or deepen their commitment to Him. And the growth that begins at camp is reinforced and nurtured when your church provides follow-up support for the kids after they return. ( We participate  in camps held at Camp Mundo Vista, Camp Caraway, Camp Agape, Camp Bethel)

Garry Phelps delivering gifts of love from the inmates to their children
Christmas of 2015 through the local church adoptions we were able to give gifts and share the Gospel with over 360 kids.  2016 we will once again exceed 300 children.
Remember these boys and girls:
  • Feel abandoned, unloved and confused for their parent’s incarceration.
  • Hope that their parent in prison remembers them.
  • Need to know that Jesus Christ can fill the void in their hearts and that God can bring healing to their families broken by crime.

ANGEL  TREE  CHRISTMAS 2016:
Every year we organize a festive holiday celebration for families of inmates, children that are homeless  or at-risk of homelessness, providing a much-needed respite from the daily challenges of poverty in some of our counties most disadvantaged neighborhood
Pulling off a party of this size is no small feat. It takes the hard work and dedication of many volunteers, sponsors, and donors to make the magic happen. You can get involved by:
  • Coordinating a Toy Drive in your office, neighborhood, or place of worship. We need hundreds of new, unwrapped new toys for children ages infant to 17. We'll wrap them and deliver them!
  • Becoming a sponsor. Are you a business who would like to sponsor the holiday party with either an outright monetary donation or an appropriate gift in kind?
  • Gift Cards of any amount are always needed for the poor children to purchase needed shoes and clothing items for school.
  • Dropping off a NEW bicycle for a needy kid at Building Hope Ministries, 1009 Hewett Rd., Supply.

Prisoners’ children all over the country suffer through the confusion and shame that comes with having a parent who is incarcerated. And the reality is, they are at high risk of following in their parents’ footsteps.
Can you imagine what would happen if our communities intervened in the lives of these hurting children . . . if someone stepped in and told them they are loved, valued, and have a parent in Heaven who will never leave them? That is what our Angel Tree program does all throughout the year.

With your gift to Angel Tree, you give these boys and girls the support they need all throughout the year and introduce them to the Father in Heaven who loves them.
